How this is calculated
The 6.75% rate is after source withholding tax and any fees. No further COCOA fee is deducted. Personal tax may apply; inflation is excluded. Profit is paid at maturity. Renewals assume no gaps and continued product availability.

your values.
You’ve worked hard for your savings. Don’t let inflation quietly eat away at them. Finding a halal way to put them to work shouldn’t be the hard part.
That’s why we built COCOA.
Halal comes first. We only invest in products with their own Shariah certification.
Clear from the start. The term rate you see is the rate used to calculate your profit, with no fees taken off.
You shouldn’t need to be an expert. Choose your investment with the profit rate, timeframe and how it works explained upfront.

Why I started COCOA

What is Cocoa?
Cocoa is a home for halal investing. Start with fixed-term investments, choose a term that fits your plans and follow your progress in the app. We’re building towards a wider range of ways to invest, including portfolios.
You don’t need to be Muslim to use Cocoa. Halal describes how your money is invested. Account eligibility depends on where you live and the checks shown during sign-up.
Why is the profit rate ‘expected’?
Your money can work for you while staying true to Islamic principles. In halal finance, profit comes from an investment or a trade, rather than interest on a loan.
For our terms, the rate is quoted for the specific investment you choose. It is not a projection based on historical stock-market returns. How that profit is earned depends on the product:
Our government certificate uses Mudarabah: your money joins a Shariah-compliant investment pool and you share in its results. The quoted rate tells you what profit is expected, but the actual amount can be higher or lower.
Our one-month Murabaha product works differently. Commodities are bought and sold with an agreed profit, payable at the end of the term. Payment still depends on the bank meeting its obligations. Neither structure makes your capital risk-free.
Can I take my money out before the term ends?
Choose a term that fits your plans, with options from just one month.
Early access depends on the investment. Some terms allow you to request it, but approval is not guaranteed and your profit may be reduced. The app shows the access rules before you invest.
How is this halal?
Halal investing is about how your money grows as well as where it goes. It avoids riba (interest) and prohibited activities such as alcohol and gambling.
We only offer Shariah-compliant products, including trade-based Murabaha and profit-sharing Mudarabah investments. Each has its own certification and documents to read in the app, so you can understand the investment before choosing it.
Is my money safe?
Knowing where your money goes matters. Before you invest, the app shows who is behind the product, how it works and the risks involved.
Cocoa is authorised and regulated by the FCA, but that does not guarantee an investment or protect it from losses. Our current government certificate and one-month Murabaha investments are not covered by the UK Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS).
Your capital is at risk. The protections and risks depend on the investment you choose, so read its key facts before committing.
Are there fees?
No fees are deducted from the term rates you see. The rate shown on our website and in the app is the rate used to calculate your profit. Personal tax may apply.
